Mali, officially the Republic of Mali, has an area of 1,240,192 km². This is 40 times larger than Belgium. Mali is completely sealed off from the ocean. Large parts of the country are in the Sahel.
The country borders on Senegal, Guinea-Conakry, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Niger, Algeria and Mauritania.
The capital of Mali is Bamako. There are more than 18 million inhabitants, of which 2 million live in and around the capital.

It is an impossible task to raise awareness everywhere on the spot. It happens here mainly thanks to the publications of Prof. dr. Saido Yéna. He is also regularly interviewed by television stations and radio stations.
