Guinea, officially the Republic of Guinea, formerly called French Guinea and sometimes called Guinea-Conakry, has an area of 245,857 km². This is almost 8 times Belgium.
Guinea borders the Atlantic Ocean, where the country has a coastline of 320 kilometers. The country also borders on Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The capital of Guinea is Conakry. There are more than 12 million inhabitants.
